So I have been a menstrual cup user for about 8 years, but recently wanted to explore discs as I started dating someone long-distance and don't want to have to sacrifice intimacy because if my period in the few days we might get to be together each month. This is the fourth disc I've tried, and it's the first success. Prior to this I've tried the Nixit disc (too large to even hook behind my pubic bone), the Diva Disc (pretty good, but my boyfriend could feel the handle during intercourse and that just weirds me out somehow, though I liked the oblong shape and that it was really flexible), and most recently I tried the Cora (rim was very large and very stiff which was uncountable for me to wear and would likely be uncomfortable for my boyfriend during sex, though we weren't able to try it, and I hated the auto-dumping). I was worried that this cup being so much smaller would not stay put, and even moreso that it would not hold up to a heavy flow. However, neither was the case - it fits GREAT, holds my heart flow without leaking and also doesn't auto-dump so it's like my cup in that it's hardly messy at all, and I can't feel it when I'm wearing it because the rim is smaller and more flexible than the Cora, though slightly less flexible than the Diva. Ultimately I like it at least as much as my cup, and maybe more. I didn't expect to be a disc convert, but I just might be after using this Saalt small disc.

Absolutely floored by how much I love my disc (Saalt small). I had tried cups before but this was so much easier—basically no learning curve. Super easy to insert and take out, no leaks even on day 1. Works great for spotting too. I only have to think about it when I wake up and right before bed. Total game changer!
Sonya K.
I almost gave up at first, but after a couple of days I had it all figured out and now I can’t believe I used tampons for so many years. This was well worth the learning curve. Things I learned (to help other newcomers): it goes all the way up, as deep as you can reach; for easy removal, for me it helps to lean back a little and tilt my pelvis up/forward. Auto-dumping is an added bonus.

I got the small size because i originally bought the hello disc and experienced bladder pressure. With saalt disc small i experienced zero bladder pressure and it stayed in place perfectly all day. However, it was difficult for me to remove because of the size. Definitely not impossible, but difficult. Other than that, it functions perfectly and i did not get any bladder pressure.
Janet S.
Picked up a regular saalt disc in target as I was travelling and left my hello disc at home…. I was nervous at first because I have had leak issues with every cup and sometimes with the hello disc if the placement is not exactly right (2 natural births, inverted uterus and sometimes low cervix!!!). Because of the firm rim it was so easy to position, it just popped right into place! I didn’t have a single leak for the first time (mind you, I emptied it 3-4 times a day because I was paranoid about leaks!!). It was a bit trickier to remove than the hello disc but I preferred the notch to the hanging tab on the hello disc, which can be really hard to tuck inside. It is impossible to remove the saalt disc without messing up your hand, but I will take that for no leaks!

So my first try with discs was with the lumma disc (small and medium; bought in a two pack) and they both worked like 50% of the time. In retrospect I think it was due to sizing, but at the time I couldn’t say for sure, and thought maybe it was a shape/firmness issue. So I ended up using my Saalt soft or original in size small. Which are both amazing cups that are perfect for me most of the time. Unfortunately my cervix drops really low toward the end of my period and sometimes the cup would not fit easily so I would opt for period undies instead. Due to this reason, I was still looking for a disc. Out of fan support, and hope, I pre ordered the hello disc, unfortunately it was also too big and would not stay in place. Enter, Saalt disc small. According to the wonderful chart on period nirvana, Saalt small was one of just a few between Lumma small and medium. I found it on sale and got to try it out this cycle. It is my perfect disc!! I love how soft (texture) the silicone is, and the firmness in the rim is just right to insert and stay in the proper place. So far no leaks, very comfortable.
Kelly S.
At first it took some getting used to but once I did it was totally worth it. I have heavy flows but a low cervix so purchased the small. Extra “dumping” is required because of my flow but I love everything about this purchase. Less cramping, easy insert and removal and the best part is not wasting $$ on products that just pollute the Earth!!!! Thank you Saalt!!

It's amazing, I love this disk. I have used a period cup before and it was pretty clean to change but I have had to change them several times a day. I would also have to wear pads just incase of leaks. I was also not able to have sex during that week.
This has 0 leaks, no pads and My husband and I neither feel the disk nor have any leaks during sex. I do not have any auto dumping happening wich is awesome and I only have to change it 2 times a day. Morning and night. The last bonuses is that I don't have a trash can full of used feminine products that are nasty and stinky as well as saves money by not having to buy any of those chemically laden products.
The only minor negative is I have a little trouble completely emptying my bladder, its just a slower drain. The only other minor issue is it is a little bit more messy when emptying which may be an issue for some. I just make sure I have access to a sink with hot water and soap right next to the toilet.
I LOVE THIS PERIOD DISK AND WILL NEVER GO BACK.
Jessica L.
I love this thing!! I’m still on my first period using it but so far it’s been fantastic. Day 1 of my long-awaited beach vacation my period starts (which like, classic) but using this disc made my period feel almost nonexistent. A few years ago my periods started getting so painful that I had to stop using tampons because they made my cramps so much worse. I tried a cup but could never get it to open properly and getting it out was so stressful, so I stuck with pads until a few months ago when I heard about softdiscs. The insertion/removal process was super easy and they didn’t cause any cramps, but I didn’t love that I was throwing away so much plastic— enter the Saalt disc! I went with the small because the softdiscs made it a little hard for me to poop, but the saalt disc is small enough that it doesn’t press on any other organs. The finger hold for removal took a little getting used to, but bearing down usually makes it pretty easy. I would definitely recommend removing it in the shower or at a toilet with a tub or sink nearby; I don’t have a super heavy flow but removing it can still be pretty messy. I have had one instance of leaking, but I just make sure to push it up securely past my pubic bone and I’ve had no leaks since. Also (the other big plus for menstrual discs) my boyfriend didn’t notice it at all when we had sex! So wins all around.
Mandy T.
I had tried other disks that leaked and didn’t fit correctly. The quiz recommended the small salt disk and wouldn’t you know it works perfectly. I never thought I would switch from tampons and now I’ll never go back!! Thank you!
Cassidy D.
I first tried out the hello disk, which I do also love, but it was very hard to insert and felt slightly too large, like there was some pressure, but this Saalt disk is smaller so its easier to insert and very comfortable! I will say there’s a learning curve to taking it out compared to my hello disk, but since I can do that at the very end of the day, I’m very content! Definitely would give any disk a go if you haven’t, and this one feels slightly less intimidating!
Devon F.
I have been a cup user for years (6+ years) and recently discovered the disc. I like to say the "technology" is slightly different - with a cup if you are overflowing into the toilet it's time to empty - because it's literally that, overflowing. With the disc - the "auto-dumping" feature is amazing and after 2 vaginal births and some difficulty finding cup fit afterwards, this seems like a much better fit and solution. Was having some cup slippage problems despite trying at least 4 brands of various sizes...which led me to research and discover - this is great! I started off buying some disposable discs at the local drug store and then based on that fit, researched a slightly smaller diameter and viola! Period nirvana. Thank you!

When I first opened my package, and seen the size of the Saalt Small Disc; I really thought there was no way this was going to work for me! I got it this morning, and all day, I have the most comfortable experience EVER with a disc. I tried reusable discs, (Flex Cup, and SoftCup) but they always slipped out of place, and caused leaking. They also put pressure on my bladder, and made urinating more difficult. For those reasons, I wanted to givethe Saalt Small Disc a try! I never imagined it would work, It looks like it is for a teen, how Small Cups are recommended for teens. Then I had to remind myself that cups and discs are not sized the same! The fit is perfect! It does not slip out of place, and it no longer causes any pressure on my bladder. I also have a low/average cervix. Very low the first 3 days of my period. This disc is going to be a game changer for me. If you are dealing with any of these issues, don't be scared to try the Saalt Small Disc. It looks like it could never work, but I have finally found my Period Nirvana thanks to this disc. I love it so much, already!
Maddie
Instantly in love. I was nervous about it being too small because I do have a high cervix. But I had such a bad time with the nixit, which is so large, that I didn’t want to have the same issue with the regular size still being too big. And I’m really glad I got the small because it really fits just right. I do have trouble with most things I use giving too much outward pressure, making me crampy and uncomfortable, and this is unfortunately no exception. However, that is my experience with all cups and discs. It is way more bearable than even a firm cup which I can’t stand to use so I think I will get used to it pretty quick. Removal is a little bit difficult, the little indent to grab it doesn’t really help I still have to pinch it to pull down and it is messier than removing a cup, but not having to break the suction is very nice.
Overall I actually am very happy with this disc. I just wanted to list the difficulties I had for those who are trying to decide if it will work for them or not.
Antonia P.
This is my first time trying a disc and I love it! Cups I had previously always made my cramps worse, but this didn't do that, I'm glad I purchased it.

I am a 40-something mom of three with a paraguard IUD and pretty heavy periods with some spotting before and after (yes it kinda sucks but I like the non-hormonal aspect of the Paraguard and am very fertile without it so...). I have been really annoyed with tampons plus period underwear for a while (I'm an MD and so have long days and leaks are sometimes inevitable). I tried the Flex disc on a whim from instagram ads and I could not get it tucked under the pubic bone (although I loved the idea!). Thanks to the disc quiz on Period Nirvana I decded to try the Saalt small disc and the Cora disc. The Saalt small disc works pretty well--it is not totally easy to insert into the right spot (yet...first period with it) but once in place I can't feel it and it works great with no leaks and stays where it should! Thank you Period Nirvana.

The firmness worked great for me, and the color is super cute!

The firmness of this small size worked well for me, and the color is super cute!!

Good quality! It is like it's not even there! I'm a teen and the small worked great! Jump on a trampoline and bike with no leaks!

Amazed with how much I love this cup! I spent several years trying other cups but they were not only too big but sometimes unbearably painful if the suction got stuck just the right way. So for a long time I was just using those disposable period disks but they were huge, very stiff, and just didn’t fit well.
But oh my gawd this is the perfect cup/disk hybrid. First of all, it’s incredibly soft and flexible so insertion is comfortable compared to anything else I’ve ever used (including tampons of course). I also love where it sits- up and out of the way so I never feel it. I have to bear down to grab it which is SO easy due to the notch. That surprised me a lot. I was not expecting the notch to matter or even stay in the front, but turns out it’s incredibly useful!
And finally, it reduced my discomfort by a lot. This also took me by surprise. The other products used to just sit weird and hurt and often I would get nauseated after putting a tampon it. The way this disk is designed it’s such a great fit that it doesn’t irritate me at all.
If you’ve found other cups/disks uncomfortable please try this one! It took me so many years to find one that fit well. Not only am I saving so much $ and waste from tampons, but it’s just way more comfortable and I have to change it less because the seal is so good. Yay to finally having one that fits!

I started with disposables to see if I would even like them and after a couple, I was hooked. I went looking for a reusable one and liked the fact that I was able to see reviews of the different ones available. I went with Saalt and at first I didn't like it because it was hard to insert, seemed really stiff and didn't seem to fold enough. My period arrived while I was in public so I didn't have the luxury of a private restroom so it took some creative thinking to get it lubricated enough to insert. Now that I've been using it for a couple days, I am hooked. It doesn't leak like the disposable ones did and the finger notch is an amazing little tool.
Kinzie M.
I like that it’s small. The cups I used before were way too big
Amanda S.
This was my first reusable disc experience. I tried the disposable "flex" first, just to see if I liked the concept. I liked the idea, but the flex didn't tuck very well for me. So, I took the quiz and with my low cervix, the quick told me the saalt small was the disc for me. I was hesitant because the flex didn't fit well but this disc was AMAZING! I had one messy change but other than that I couldn't believe how great this was! I love the notch in this disc. It did spin a little for me but always seemed to land in the same spot, so I knew where to find it after the first time. The notch not only helped with removal but also helps with insertion for me. I could use that notch with the rim to help push and get a better angle. That may make my disc longevity shorter but it's worth it to me. This was the best, easiest, most comfortable, and (if possible) most enjoyable cycle I have had. I wish I would have found this product sooner! Thank you!

Period.Shop has been an amazing resource in helping me make the transition to reusable period products. This website is so helpful and I really appreciate all the information compiled here. The Saalt Disc was definitely one of the smartest purchases I've made in a good while. I'm under 30 and haven't had children yet, and the regular size seems to work well for me. It's a bit tricky to get the hang of using, but once it's in it's super comfortable and hardly noticeable. And arguably the best part of it all- now I don't have to make the dreaded monthly purchase of another box of tampons!
Olivia C.
I am SO HAPPY with this Saalt Small Disc!! I have a low-average cervix and a medium-heavy flow. Previously tried Hello Disc (my first ever reusable period product!) and Lumma M. While I LOVED the removal tab/string options, both where too big for me and therefore leaked. With Saalt Small, the smaller diameter and something about the notch/taller rim make it a much better fit for me (the notch helps the basin open more fully giving me max capacity - both HD and Lumma M stayed super scrunched up for me - and the rim helps the disc open to the sides and stay tucked). I notice that the same features that make it work so well (rim/notch) also make insertion a bit more tricky bc the disc really wants to pop open but oh well, I’ll deal because this product does work for me!! I was honestly starting to get scared that there was something about my anatomy that no disc would work for me… turns out I was just trying discs that were too big. For me, Saalt Small is mostly leak-free (I have to remember to not squat or sit weirdly if it’s been a few hours since auto dumping) and easy enough to remove (fingers crossed for a smaller HD though… would buy to try in a heartbeat!)
Saalt Disc Small plus a pair of period underwear = INFINITELY INFINITELY better than pads and tampons and very very close to my total period nirvana!! Very grateful for Kim and the content she puts out. Because of her, in the course of a year, I’ve switched from pads to a disc that I’m really happy with and I know so much more about my own body/cycle/anatomy. Very empowering!
Emily G.
This is my first cycle using this disc, I have the size regular, I think I should have tried the small first, this disc has been causing some bladder pressure and it doesn’t tuck behind my pubic bone as well as my HELLO disc or CORA. But I’m still using it
Betty H.
I’m more drawn to discs since they’re less ~invasive~ than a cup but still get the job done just as well. It’s so much easier for me to get it in than a cup too. Easy to use, doesn’t leak (just use backup just in case!). Mine does shift on me a bit, so I’ll have to dig for the little notch so I can grip it to get it out. This size is perfect, I’ve used discs before that were too big and not firm enough to stay leak free. Love this disc so much and totally recommend it to anyone interested in discs!
Ilissa G.
This isn’t perfect, but it’s *pretty great.* It’s the easiest reusable product I’ve ever used; very simple to insert/remove/clean (the instructions are actually helpful). I am able to get 12-hour wear mostly, but when my period is at its heaviest, I do switch to something else for a few hours.
However, for my first experience with a disc, I don’t have a lot of complaints and am mostly pleasantly surprised. The rim is firm and doesn’t cause me to autodump and isn’t uncomfortable. A few times, I did experience some difficulty peeing immediately after insertion, but that sensation went away quickly.
If you’re curious, I recommend it. But ultimately, you have to find the thing for you, and if you already have that, stick with it.
Kelli C.
This Saalt disc is the second disc I've tried, the first being the Lumma L. The Lumma leaked and was just slightly too big to stay tucked, so it would randomly auto-dump. Not great. The Period Nirvana quiz suggested the Saalt disc regular so I ordered from the Period Shop. Delivery was quick, and I love my new disc! I'm on day 2, my heaviest day, and other than the expected deluge when waking up this morning, I haven't had a single leak all day! It's so soft and I can tuck it up higher than the Lumma so it's more comfortable. The finger notch is great and for me has made removal less messy. I highly recommend the Saalt regular disc.
M
Amazing. I was able to fully get it under my cervix and tucked. Something I couldn’t do with the Cora disc.
Kayla D.
This disc is my Goldilocks. I was pretty happy with my Saalt cup, but my short fingers and long nails made insertion painful and a long process. This disc just slips right into place with no fuss. I’m a disc convert! Also, I am so grateful that this disc comes in a small size for us that have short/smaller anatomy down there. The notch really helps with removal and I’ve never experienced leaking with this disc. I can’t say enough good things about it!
Alexis W.
It was shockingly smooth! I had tried a cup before, but I have a low cervix, and was having many problems with that. I only recently learned about discs, and then found period nirvana.
I didn’t choose either recommendation from the quiz, but I am very familiar with my body and my anatomy. Maybe those could have worked for me, but after going through one cycle with the small Saalt disc, I’m a complete convert!
I’ll be traveling abroad for my next cycle, and I’m so excited to take this with me.
Rachel W.
I have to say I love this disc. I have finally found a period product that works for me and stays in the correct spot all day with no leaks. I have tried others and they seem to slide out. But this smaller disc tucks behind my pubic bone nicely!
Paige G.
So far I absolutely love this product. I’m a huge fan of my Saalt Soft Cup and I had absolutely no idea (I was pregnant) that Saalt even had a disc available! So a soon as I realized period.shop had the regular disc in stock I ordered it. Shipping was fast. Quality is amazing. It’s a great fit for me. Inserting it can be a bit tricky (but I feel that way about all discs). Removal is a breeze and almost mess free because of the design of the product. I would highly recommend if you are interested in a disc and already a Saalt user.
Amanda W.
I am so thankful to have reached this website! It has been so informative and helped guide me to the best disc for me. This past cycle has truly been the best of my life - no mess and no worries. I will never go back to the days before my disc!
Cynthia G.
Well I had been wanting to try either a cup or disk and went for a disk based on the nirvana quiz. I finally found one at target and bought it super excited inserting it was super easy for me felt super comfortable no leaks it did auto dump once and then I decided to clean it out and to my surprise I COULD NOT reach it I thought it’s my first time I might be a bit nervous I’ll let it go for now and try later. I watched a couple of videos asked for tips and tried 3 more times with no luck. Unfortunately I ended up in urgent care and even the Dr. had a hard time getting out she finally had to use some forceps to get it out. Not sure what went wrong. I did love it but now I’m super scared to try it again. I might just have to wait for the Hello one to be back in stock to try that one.
Jaquelyn L.
I needed a disc that was sized between a medium and a large lumma and the saalt disc fit that bill, so I decided to try it. It's amazing. I have a super heavy flow, but I felt like I was hardly on my period because it wasn't causing painful pressure, it didn't stop me from peeing, and it wasn't messy to remove like every other disc I've ever tried.
I thought the finger notch was probably going to be a pointless gimmick - IT'S REALLY NOT. Thanks to that finger notch, I can pull the disc out, even when it's full, and I don't end up with blood splatter all over the floor like I have with all my other discs (Lumma large & medium, Ziggy, Nixit).
On the first day I found the finger notch, which is far more firm than the rest of the disc (everything but the notch is super soft) to be a bit irritating, but I got used to it really quickly and it makes removing the disc so much easier than it is to remove my other discs.
Overall I require cups/discs that are super soft and the Saalt disc was soft enough for me personally and this is definitely a size of disc that was needed on the market.
Liora L.
There was a rocky start with shipping but I was sent a replacement. It is AMAZING! I seriously can't believe it. I've had very bad luck with menstrual cups but after I tried a disc I actually am in period nirvana . And it's my favorite color too ;D
Thea T.
Great disc. Very similar to the Cora disc. Very comfortable and easy to use. Have not had any issues so far with leaks. Definitely would recommend.
Nicole M.
I was so excited to try this disc that my uterus obliged me and gave me my period ten whole days early!
I have previously tried the original Ziggy cup (actually a disc) and found that it was too large and kept popping up from behind my pubic bone, meaning lots of leaks. So I erred on the side of caution and got the small salt disc, and haven't had a single leak or issue yet, even while riding my bicycle or running around and squatting! Still getting used to the notch for removal, and haven't had the opportunity to try it for sex yet but will update my review once I have

This disc is wonderful! I wanted to try a disc instead of a cup because I have an IUD. I have used nixit and soft disc before but they would never stay put! The saalt small is the PERFECT size for me and I don’t seem to have an issue with capacity even with copper IUD heavy periods and the smaller disc. Thank you Kim for educating me on different disc sizes and how to find the right one!
Maddie M.
Love this disc so far! The thick rim seems to prevent leakage and I can sleep with it in without worrying during heavy days, which I’ve had difficulties with using other discs. I like the softness of the rim too, it makes it less likely to auto dump but also less likely to push out of place accidentally. It’s a dream once it’s inside.
I will say insertion is difficult with the thick rim however, especially the last bit with the grip indent. I would avoid if you’re a first time disc user. I fix this by adding a touch of lube and I’m home free. Still love it.
carina c.
Really high quality disc, quite easy to use and no leakage for me.
Ada F.
No matter what I try It just wouldn't stay tuck. Giving it another try this upcoming period. If I still have issues I'm
returning it to Salt.
Megan A.
Switching from cup and disposable soft disc use, to reusable disc only so I don’t have to switch from cup to disc for sex. I tried this disc but my partner said it was very uncomfortable during sex. I could kind of feel it too. We tried it out twice and it was worse the second time. Also, it may have been too large for me as it seemed to keep slipping into my vaginal canal during daytime use. I am thinking of trying the hello disc or the nixit disc next. Still looking for the right fit for me. When it was in the right spot and not slipping, I had no leaks! And it holds over twice the amount of my cup, so I did like that about it.
Suzy P.
I've used a cup briefly years ago and didn't love it because I had some discomfort and leaking. Recently I'd seen Kim talking about discs on Instagram and was interested to try one out. I use Nuvaring for birth control and thought a disc would be a similar size/fit and after one cycle I'm hooked. I love it! I don't even notice it's in there, insertion/removal is easy and mess free period sex is an added perk.
Kiarra B.
Loved this small disc so much. The normal disposable disks are way too large & I can never with them behind my pubic bone. Small cups are great but even the trimmed pull tab irritates my urethra. The Small Salt Disk is PERFECT. It sits where it should inside me without moving or discomfort. My urethra is not irritated by the string of a tampon or tab of a menstrual cup. Highly recommend.
Jadia
Ok So I didn’t do my first review right so here it goes I was using the lumma size small and the lumma size medium and the both work great but they were irritating at Times and I would randomly leak so I tested out these saalt small and immediately fell in love super soft super comfortable no leaks the only issue I had was that the notch would rotate slightly to the left or right but never fully out of reach and I also was Able to manage a mess free removal which I have never done while using a disk I highly recommend
