I found this cup by researching why my other cups kept sagging down. I realized I have a low cervix and probably a weakened pelvic floor after two kids. I’ve used the saalt cup in both sizes and the lunette in the bigger size and all three would drop down to almost coming out of me most times I used them. And I tried for a year. I am thrilled to report that the Merula cup has worked perfectly since the first insertion! I also prefer the closed loop pull tab for removal over the single piece of silicone like on other brands’ cups. Worth trying if you’re experiencing menstrual cup dropping or sagging!

I have tried several cups over the past 8-10 years… I have had two babies and after the first I noticed my cervix was much lower. After the second it is still in that lower position and this cup is perfect. No leaks and very comfortable. I trimmed the ladder down to one rung and it works well. It has a high capacity and is fairly easy to get in position without issue. It’s the first cycle using it and I am very happy with the purchase. I recommend to anyone but especially if other cups have proven too long.

Using this cup was the first time I’ve ever been scared. It suctioned so hard to my cervix and hurt so bad. I’m so disappointed. Onto the next!

I loved this product initially but when my cervix changes mid cycle it puts pressure on my bladder. I had zero problem getting it to seal and the ladder stem was super comfortable without trimming it at all (high cervix). Quality product, looks super cool, not as firm as I thought it would be, but I think the shape when my cervix lowers just is too much for my bladder personally. The capacity is insane too! I can’t forget that. I have extremely heavy periods and it lasted the full 12 hours each and every time. Usually on my heaviest day a menstrual cup only lasts 4-5 hours.

I finally found my holy grail cup! This is the ONLY product I’ve tried that stays in place, doesn’t leak, can’t be felt while wearing it - total period nirvana! So happy I found this cup & will not be going back to tampons ever again :)

Okay…I know this is a high capacity cup or a low cervix but I didn’t expect for it to be this good! I absolutely love this cup. I cutdown some of the pull tabs and honestly forgot about a few times! I would recommend for any one looking for a low cervix, no holes, high capacity cup!

I really want to like this, but it’s not really working out. I’m coming from the Diva Cup, and tried this one because I found the Diva Cup a bit too tall and I kept scraping my cervix when trying to get it to open… but I just cannot get the hang of inserting the Merula. I’ve tried every method imaginable. It just won’t seem to seat correctly. I don’t know if it’s not the right shape for me, if it’s too soft, or what. I’m surprised the consensus seems to be that it’s firm, it seems much much softer than the Diva cup, which makes it very difficult to maneuver into position without it folding onto itself. This is my 2nd cycle of trying it, but unless I miraculously figure out a cheat code in the next few days I don’t think there will be a 3rd…

Great info on here and very helpful

So I really wanted to like this cup. I really love the black color and the higher capacity, but I really struggled to insert it. I’m usually really stubborn and I’m okay with using it for several periods to get right, but when I was wearing it I sneezed and it fell out. I’ve never had that experience with any other cup so I think it was the shape that didn’t work for me. I’ve been using cups for 10 years. I normally don’t give up on cups but I couldn’t get over the worry of that happening in public with no bathroom nearby. I will say that I probably need pelvic floor physical therapy after my 3 babies- so I’m sure that contributed to my bad experience.

It took me a minute to figure out how to place this cup since it's a different shape, but once I got the hang of it, everything has been smooth sailing. I have a low cervix so I was looking for something better than the traditional cone shape since I felt like that was always a bit much for me. I have a lighter flow but was able to place my cup in the morning and have no worries keeping it in all day until I was home and able to empty it in the comfort of my own bathroom.

My goldilocks cup!! I've tried so many discs (discs just don't stay behind my pubic bone and i've tried all sizes and rim firmness) and cups (too long or slips down easily). This cup is short enough for me and stays put. I can use it on my heaviest and and lightest day. It doesn't slow down my urine stream and doesn't put much pressure on my bladder. I can definitely forget that its there. It does take a little bit of fiddling to get it to open fully but unless its a small and firm cup, I have to do that with all cups.

I wanted to love this. The ladder tab made removal 1000% easier, but the firmness was maybe too much for me. I felt a lot of pressure on my pubic bone and it was very uncomfortable for me.

I have used this cup for 2 cycles and feel like I've worked out most of the "kinks". For me, positioning it has been the hardest since I have a very low and tilted cervix. I will say I can't feel this cup at all when it fits properly. Here to add I have had 3 babies all vaginally.

Finally! I have been using menstrual cups for about 10 years and have always experienced leaks and trouble finding the right fit for me. I have both a short cervix and a tilted uterus. I have had 3 babies, all c-section births. I’ve tried several different brands and sized cups. I am in my 3rd cycle with my Merula OS and I think I have finally found the one! I
Have a pretty heavy flow for the first couple of days and this cup has been working like a dream. Hardly any leaks at all! I do change it every 4-5 hours at the beginning of my period, but I could probably go longer with this cup, which is amazing. I use the punch down fold with the fold towards the back when inserting. Once it is positioned properly and not suctioned on my cervix (ouch!!) I feel comfortable and confident. I can’t feel it at all. So awesome!!!

Amazing product! Perfect for a beginner without much knowledge, needed some learning and instructions but after that I was good to go!!! It’s so much more convenient! I wish I had this when my period was so heavy I was using a tampon every hour!!
Emily P.
I Like the cup and the concept of how it can hold more “without leaking” however biggest challenge I found is that I cannot get the rim of the cup to pop open when the cup is inserted. I’ve been a merula cup user since jan 25th, and still cant find a niche of how to pop it open (done and googled everything across the board).

I have a low cervix and heavy flow. This cup definitely did its job while not spilling a drop, but I was in incredible pain due to its firmness. Every cramp I had was amplified with this cup, so maybe only use it towards the end of your period? Not for me, but not a bad option!

After trying to order directly from Merula unsuccessfully, I was shocked by how fast my order was shipped from Period.Shop. I absolutely love this cup. I have tried I think 5 different cups at this point, for them all to fail by either leaking, shifting during exercise, being too long for my low cervix, being too soft and not opening. FINALLY I have a cup that satisfies all of those issues at once. Hallelujah!

This is THE cup to get! I decided to start using cups about 5 months ago, and it’s been a journey trying to get the perfect one. In that time I discovered that I not only have a super low cervix, but it’s also tilted. So the first “one size” cups I tried didn’t work because they were too long. I found a great low cervix “shorty” option, but due to the shortness and the classic bell shape of it, it just didn’t work for my tilted cervix and heavy period, because I still leaked. I was about to give up and resign myself to always using a panty liner backup or period undies, because even with the leaking it was light years better than a tampon.
I found this cup on a blog, and decided to give it one last try. I’ve used it on the first three days so far (super heavy!), and no leaks! Something about the ball shape fills the vaginal canal out in a way where the tilt of the cervix is a non-issue and the ball shape also holds more that the short bell, so it works with a heavy flow. I cut off the top two layers of the handle, so it’s just one loop, and it’s a perfect height for me.
So if you’re like me and have a vagina that likes to be extra and not work with basic cups, try this one!!

Finally, leak free!
I used a Diva Cup for years without having any issue. Then I stopped bleeding on the Mirena. When I switched to non-hormonal birth control and returned to the land of cups, I started struggling with leaks. Even on heavy days, my cervix never gets as low as one knuckle so I never got low-cervix suggestions on the quiz. I ended up trying different folds and cups (Lily, Lena, Saalt, Lunette) and still leaked. Maybe the years with the Diva cup kept me from trying different shapes/in denial?
The Merula was my last-ditch before accepting I'd always have to use period underwear as a backup. It is super soft and easy to fold. Punch down is my go-to. I had no issue inserting, and I run my finger along the side to help it open up. I really love that it doesn't have holes either because those are a pain to keep clean. Not to mention the colors available! I hope the galaxy helps minimize the staining. Pretty over the moon that I can return to a leak-free period life!
Karla
I got the Merula OS and it’s awesome! After I had my first baby, my old cup didn’t fit quite right and started getting uncomfortable (I used to use the xs pixie cup). I switched to this one and it was a great decision. It’s super comfortable, easy to insert, and the adjustable ladder is helpful so I can get exactly the right length for me. I’d highly recommend!

This cup ended up being the answer for me. I had tried several others over the last ten years or so and they were ok. I'd end up with leaks and just couldn't figure out why. I had tried to find my cervix before but because of my weight I had a really difficult time finding it. I finally did one day and realized it was pretty darn low during my period. I decided to try this cup (for the first time on vacation ) and it was GREAT! My period is super heavy and it never leaked due to being too full. In fact I was so surprised one time when I took it out that it hadn't because this baby was full to the brim. The only time it leaked was when it didn't open up fully or it was positioned too high. I had way better luck with the punch down fold (I used the C fold on all my other cups) as far as getting it to open all the way. The stem is a little indimitating at first, but after I figured out the position it stayed in the best when folded it was smooth sailing. As an added bonus perk I was able to have sex with this cup in and my partner said it wasn't his first choice (we usually use a Luma small during sex) but it wasn't terrible either. If you have a low cervix and a heavy flow this might be the cup for you.

I felt the pressure that the reviews mentioned at first but once it warmed up, I hardly noticed the cup (except when I had to pee). I love my Saalt soft cup but this is my new go-to for my heaviest day.
Katie D.
I chose this cup because I have a low cervix. I have used the MeLuna Shorty in the past with pretty good success. The Merula OS was hard to get open all the way once inserted. I also experienced cramps from having the suction of the cup on my cervix. This one isn’t for me, but I’m also trying a menstrual disc that seems to be working better!
Sam S.
This cup is a game changer!!! I have been using cups for years and years now but have had the same problem with every single one I have tried. They have all been your basic cone shaped cup, because until period nirvana I had no idea other shapes existed. Slippage has been never ending! I know how to use a cup and I know it’s in the right spot but the cone shape never stays in place for me. This cup was made for me and I don’t have a short cervix!
Ellen D.
It is going well so far!! Hoping the Merula OS is my ‘Goldilocks’ cup, a bit of a challenge getting the cup in just the right spot, but when I’m wearing it, I can’t even feel it! So happy with my purchase, I’ve use the juju4 also and have loved that too!! Now I have confidence when my period comes around!!
Kerry S.
Amazing! I’d always wanted to use a menstrual cup! It was really an amazing experience, but breaking the suction to pull it out is a little nerve wracking the first time!

I love this cup. I was a devoted cup user before having kids, but after a difficult vaginal delivery I could not seem to find a cup that would fit properly. I tried about 6 different styles/sizes/brands before I found this one. I was starting to think cups were no longer somthing I could use. This one stays in place, is very comfortable and great for people with a low cervix.
Ashley M.
I have a low cervix the first few days of my cycle and a hea y flow on those days. The MeLuna Shorty XL is a great fit but I needed more capacity and the Merula is great! I can actually go 12hr between emptying and it is a life saver at night. I can actually sleep comfortably again.
Patricia P.
I am SO excited about this product. On day two of my period and the first day it worked per.fect.ly. I didn’t even go out with backup. I have had five vaginal deliveries and have a very low cervix so normal cups never worked and were always leaking and painful. I had tried a disk and that never stayed in properly either. I almost despaired of finding a cup that would work, then I found Period Nirvana’s YouTube channel and watched the review of this product. Best. Buy. Ever.

This is as close to goldilocks as I'm going to get! I have a low cervix and a heavy flow. It's fairly comfortable (I tend to be super sensitive), and it stays leak-free for 4-8 hours at a time, even on my heaviest days. With other cups and discs, I changed every hour or two.
My biggest downside is that I can't poop with it in, so I wear a smaller, softer cup on my light days.
One suggestion: Don't cut off the ladder before you're sure you need to. I tried it on once and trimmed off a rung, and I wish I hadn't. It's shorter than it first seems!

10/10. I have a very low cervix since having my son and have had issues with my cups slipping down far enough that I would feel them and it was super uncomfortable. I have had no issues with this cup at all, even after using the bathroom which is where I used to have the most problems. I would recommend this cup to anyone with a low cervix. It does take some getting used to as far as getting it to open, but once I got the hang of it after a few tries I haven’t had any problems.
Jessica R.
Delivery was quick and my experience ordering from this site was awesome overall! However, the Merula OS isn’t very comfortable. The bulbous shape and rounded base makes it difficult to get it to open up fully inside the vaginal canal. The shape of the cup also causes it to push against the vaginal walls in a way that makes it difficult to pee while wearing it (blocks the flow of urine). I used an Athena cup for the past six years, so it may just take a while to get used to it!
Jadia R.
I got the orange and it a beautiful color it at first I couldn’t get it to open with the punch down fold then I tried a little lube on the side I was doing the fold and it worked perfectly only thing I have noticed is I don’t get if in high enough it hard to use the bathroom with it in but one I figured out that part too I fell in love with this cup I have a lower cervix but was still able to leave all of the ladder attached and it doesn’t bother me
Sarah J.
I’ve tried a couple different cups but because I have a prolapse and a low cervix I had a hard time finding a comfortable fit. The me rula cup is very soft and easy to use. I forgot I was wearing it and even rode horses without any discomfort. I’m very happy with it.
Sylvia E.
My experience was great. The cup works all of the cups suggested to me work
Esther E.
I have a low cervix and heavy flow and this is my go to cup. The ladder stem is very flexible and soft. Because I have a low cervix, I have to make sure that it doesn't get in the way when I'm trying to get my cup open. I have found that holding the cup so that the folded half is facing down (with the punch down fold) and inserting it towards my tailbone works best for my anatomy. I have four cups but now I can stop looking for the perfect fit. Merula OS is it for me. It isn't large enough for overnights, so one day I might try the Merula XL. I am concerned that the shape won't be right for me though. I just double up with a cloth pad when my flow is heaviest and that solves any issues for now.
Tommi lin T.
This cup leaked more than it caught. I will keep trying next month to see if I can figure out how to get it to work, but so far I’m pretty disappointed.
Katie R.
This is definitely my Goldilocks cup. It sits comfortably and holds enough that I don’t have to change it for at least four hours even on the heaviest days when I would have to change a super plus tampon in two hours. Also, the bag is super pretty! It can be hard to get the top open, especially at first, but after a few days, I got the hang of it, and it was so worth it. I had tried Divacup and Saalt cup in the past, and they were fine, but a bit too long and filled up really quickly. If you have a heavy flow like I do, this is a great cup!
